A labourer and the child of James Spratt and Sarah Impett, William Spratt, the 3 times great-grandfather of Nigel Horne, was born in Margate, Kent, England on 14 May 17891,2,3, was baptised there at St John the Baptist Church on 31 May 1789 and was married to Mary Hughes (with whom he had 11 children: James, Sarah, William, Sarah, Matilda, Henry, Hope, Charity, Harriet, Mary and Esther) in St Nicholas-at-Wade, Kent, England on 8 Oct 18155.
During his life, he was living in Kent on 8 Mar 18157; at The Street, St Nicholas-at-Wade on 6 Jun 18418; in St Nicholas-at-Wade in 18512; and at The Street, St Nicholas-at-Wade on 7 Apr 18619.
He died on 6 Mar 1862 in St Nicholas-at-Wade4 (inflammation of the lungs) and was buried there on 13 Mar 1862 (aged 72yrs. Verified at Margate library 24 Mar 2010)6.
