Yesterday afternoon, the bodies of the unfortunate brothers Thomas N Myers and Robert Myers and of James wake, who were fatally injured by the boiler explosion on board the Tyne steamer Black Swan, on Sunday last, were brought to the Tyne from Yarmouth by passenger steamer Zingari. The enquiry into the occurrence was resumed at Yarmouth yesterday, evidence was given showing that the boiler was between eight and nine years old, and had been several times repaired and that thefracture occurred where the last patch was the enquiry was adjourned. An inquest was open yesterday afternoon at Yarmouth Hospital on the bodies of Thomas Nicholson and Robert Myers, and James Wake fireman, who were killed by explosion which occurred on board steamer Black Swan while off Yarmouth, on Sunday afternoon. The coroner said he had received a reply from the board of trade to the effect that they had instructed an inspector to visit Yarmouth to inquire into the matter, the captain of the Black Swan depose that the rate of his vessel speed from Boulogne was not more than 9 knots per hour, and the boilers were provided with government safety valves, the back of the port furnace was blown out. He did not know the cause of the explosion, the enquiry was then adjourned to wait the arrival of the board of trade inspector - Mr Robert Myers chief engineer, father of two of the deceased, is lying seriously injured, and his recovery is doubtful, he has not been told of the death of his sons. Dated 12 July 1879. The enquiry into the explosion on the Black Swan in which three lives were lost was concluded at Yarmouth on Friday, the chief engineer, Robert Myers was still too weak a state to give evidence, and the only witness called was Mr Philip Samson surveyor from the board of trade, after his evidence had been heard the jury found that explosion was caused by the weak state of the port furnace and condemned the practise of fixing cupped patches over the stays. Yesterday telegram was received in North Shields, stating that Robert Myers, chief engineer of the screw steamer Black Swan of North Shields who was severely scalded by a boiler explosion aboard that vessel, had died in hospital at Yarmouth, the deceased lived in Milburn Place North Shields, it will be remember that two of the deceased sons--Thomas N second engineer and Robert who was on a voyage of pleasure were-with James Wake fireman killed in the same explosion, the BlackSwan arrived yesterday in the Tyne from Yarmouth, towed by tug coastguard, and is moored on the north side of Shields Harbour at Messrs.
