The 3rd of 5 children of James Serjeant and Ann Mount, Frances Serjeant, the first cousin five-times-removed on the mother's side of Nigel Horne, was born in Chislet, Kent, England on Apr 30, 1824, baptised there at St Mary the Virgin on May 1, 1825 and was married twice (to John Pool (on Feb 5, 1842 in Allen, Indiana, USA) and John Anderson (on Jul 24, 1881 in Clay, Indiana, USA, following the death of John Edward on Jun 9, 1872)). She had 9 children with John Pool: Mary Ann, James E, Charlotte Maria, Edna J, John W, George H, Elisabeth M, Samuel R and Henry H.
During her life, she was living in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Jun 1, 18503; in Clay, Indiana, USA on Jun 1, 18604; and in Lewis, Indiana in 18702 and on Jun 1, 18702.In 1841 she travelled from New York, New York, USA to London, England, departing on 15 May, arriving on 1841.
She died on Oct 4, 1896 in Clay and was buried at Peavey Cemetery, Howesville, Indiana after Oct 4, 1896.
Family stories are that Frances Elizabeth Sergeant and John Edward Pool were both from Kent, England, but did not know each other while there. They both sailed on the Wellington from London, England and that's where they met. They arrived in New York on May 18, 1841 and were married on February 5, 1842 in Allen County, Indiana. They moved from there to Clay County, Indiana in 1859, where they owned 80 acres in Howesville. John helped charter the; Presbyterian Church in Howesville
