The 2nd of 4 children of Henry Peters and Elizabeth Cook, James Peters, the third cousin twice-removed on the father's side of Nigel Horne, was born in Richibucto, Kent, New Brunswick, Canada on Jul 7, 1864, was married twice (to Rowena Gray (on Nov 21, 1886 in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada) and Margaret Barber (on Aug 30, 1905 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, following the death of Rowena Elizabeth on Nov 18, 1897)) and 11. He had 3 children: James Ivan and Rowena Elizabeth with Rowena Elizabeth, and one surviving child.

During his life, he was living at his birthplace in 18718; in Kent, New Brunswick, Canada in 18812; in New Westminster in 19013 (the same place as his parents had been living in 1891); and at 25 Wellington Street, British Columbia in 19114.

He died on Jun 1, 1942 in New Westminster5,7,9,10 and was buried there at Fraser Cemetery after Jun 1, 19427,9.
