Biography

A farm labourer and the child of John Culmer (a parish clerk) and Sarah Hawkes, John Culmer, the 3 times great-grandfather of Nigel Horne, was born in Stourmouth, Kent, England c. 18041,2,3,4,5,6, was baptised there on 1 Apr 1804 and married Phoebe Port (with whom he had 8 children: Charles, George, Harriet, Emma, Jane, Esther, John and Mary) at St Mary the Virgin Church, Fordwich, Kent, England on 9 Sep 18207.
During his life, he was living at Doll House, Blean, Kent on 30 Mar 1851[10]; at New Road, Blean, Kent on 7 Apr 1861[11] and in Blean, Kent on 6 Jun 1841[9] and on 2 Apr 1871[12].

He died on 2 Jul 1871 in Blean, Kent5 (stomach Cancer) and was buried there at Ss Cosmus & Damian on 9 Jul 18718.
