The child of William Amos (a platelayer railway) and Esther Dale, George Amos, the first cousin twice-removed on the father's side of Nigel Horne, was born in Dover, Kent, England in 18991.

During his life, he was living at London Road, Dover on 31 Mar 1901[1] and at 5 Minnis Terrace, Dover on 2 Apr 1911, less than a mile from his uncle Leonard Dale who was living at 12 Douglas Road, Dover, Kent, England[2].
