A locomotive driver southern railway and the child of Charles Culmer (a coal dealer) and Mary Lawrence, Harry Culmer, the second cousin twice-removed on the mother's side of Nigel Horne, was born in Faversham, Kent, England on 3 Jul 18831,2,3,4, was baptised there on 1 Aug 1883 and married Hannah Piles (with whom he had 5 children: Robert Nigel Charles, Harry R, Bertie Charles J, Sydney John R and Maurice Stanley Allan) at St Michael & All Angels Church, Throwley, Kent, England on 24 Oct 19085.

During his life, he was living at 56 Tanners Street, Faversham on 5 Apr 18911; at Ospringe Street, Faversham on 31 Mar 19016; at 3 Cambridge Road, Faversham on 2 Apr 19117; and at 79 St Marys Road, Faversham on 29 Sep 19392.

He died on 13 Oct 1965 in Sittingbourne, Kent4.
