A cemetery caretaker, licensed victualler, asylum farm foreman and butchers assistant and the child of William Deal (a bailiff asylum farm) and Sarah Dale (a caretaker of bridge union workhouse), Austin Deal, the first cousin twice-removed on the father's side of Nigel Horne, was born in Chartham, Kent, England on Dec 23, 18761,2, was baptized there on Feb 11, 1877 and married Emily Kenton (an unpaid domestic duties with whom he had 3 children: Eardley, William Richard and Hilda Mary) at St George's Church, Ramsgate, Kent, England on Jan 19, 19014.

During his life, he was living at Asylum Farm Cottages, Chartham on Apr 3, 18815; at Asylum Cottages, Chartham on Apr 5, 18916; at 6 Dane Park Road, Ramsgate on Mar 31, 19018; at Kent County Lunatic Asylum, Chartham on Apr 2, 19117; at Railway Tavern, Chartham in Dec 1915; at Cemetery Lodge, Chartham on Sep 29, 19391; and at 5 Broadway Mansions, Fulham, London, England in 1950.

He died on Feb 20, 1950 at Fulham Hospital, Hammersmith, London3. He served in the military from Dec 10, 1915 to Oct 21, 1918 (army - Labour Corps Invalided out with lumbago).
