Biography

A mariner and the child of William Cowell and Elizabeth Wales, William Cowell, the first cousin four-times-removed on the mother's side of Nigel Horne, was born at St Peters, Thanet, Kent, England on 10 Feb 1811, was baptised there on 17 Mar 1811 and and also married Sarah Pettit (with whom he had 2 children: Sarah Ann and Susannah Elizabeth) on 25 Dec 1855.

During his life, he was living at 1 Nelson Place, St Peters, Thanet, Kent, England on 7 Apr 1861[3] and on 2 Apr 1871[2].

He died c. May 1877 in Thanet1 and was buried at St Peters, Thanet on 7 Jun 1877. He served in the military from 1833 to 1855 (Royal Navy).
