A stonecutter and the eldest of 3 children of William Bixler and Anna Birk, Charles Bixler, the fourth cousin twice-removed on the mother's side of Nigel Horne, was born in Fort Wayne, Allen, Indiana, USA on 4 Jun 18911.

He married Elva M c. 1914.

During his life, he was living at his birthplace on 9 Jun 1900; at 112 Euclid Avenue, Lima, Allen, Ohio, USA on 5 Jun 1917; in Lima, Ohio on 10 Jan 1920[5]; at 121 McIver Street, Greensboro, Guilford, North Carolina, USA in 1929; at Wilson Street, Greensboro, North Carolina on 3 Apr 1930; and at 253 S Pine Street, Lima, Ohio on 16 Apr 1940[6] and in 1942.

He died on 18 Jul 1942 in Lima, Ohio2,3,4 (from The Lima News, Saturday, July 18, 1942: Charles E. Bixler, 54, a World war veteran, died Saturday morning at his home, 253 S. Pine-st, after a long illness. He was a native of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and had lived in Lima for about 30 years. He was a stonecutter by trade. Surviving are his wife, Elva; his father and mother, William and Anna Bixler of Wolcottville, Ind. and two brothers, Harry and Jesse, both of Ft. Wayne. He was a member of Trinity Methodist church and the Brotherhood Sunday school class. Funeral services will be held at the late home Monday at 10 a.m., in charge of Rev. W. B. Arthur of Alger. Burial will be in Alger cemetery) and is buried at Preston Cemetery, Alger, Hardin, Ohio.

He served in the military from 1917 to 1918 (pvt. 4127243).
