A waggoner on farm and farm labourer and the child of Thomas Horn (a farm bailiff) and Elizabeth Warner (a general shopkeeper), Charles Horn, the great-grandfather of Nigel Horne, was born at St Peters, Thanet, Kent, England on Jul 28, 18521,2,3,4,5,6, was baptized there on Oct 10, 1852 and married Jane Tutt (with whom he had 3 children: Charles Henry, Isaac and Edmund) at Mount Ephraim Baptist Chapel, Margate, Kent, England on Jun 9, 18838.

During his life, he was living at Northdown, Margate on Apr 2, 18711; at Drapers Cottage, Margate on Apr 5, 18912 and9; at 15 Haine Cottages, St Lawrence, Thanet, Kent on Mar 31, 19013 and10; and at Elder Cottage, 23 Northdown Road, St Peters, Thanet, Kent on Apr 2, 1911 following the death of his wife on Jun 7, 1909 with his mother, Elizabeth Ann11.

He died on Jan 20, 1929 in Broadstairs, Kent7 (myocarditis and enlarged prostate).
